Terms of Service

Effective Date: December 13, 2024 | Version 2.0

Summary

  • You must be 13+ to use the service
  • Your reflections are anonymous and permanent
  • Four rules: no illegal content, threats, doxxing, or harassment
  • We're not a crisis service
  • Service provided "as is"

1. Agreement to Terms

By using Sanctuary ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. What Sanctuary Is

Sanctuary is an anonymous reflective platform that enables users to submit anonymous reflections, view reflections from others, receive AI-generated theme analysis, and read daily collective consciousness summaries.

What It Is NOT

  • Not social media (no profiles, followers, likes)
  • Not therapy or mental health treatment
  • Not a crisis intervention service
  • Not a substitute for professional help

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. The Anonymous Architecture

Our Service is designed for true anonymity. This means:

  • No accounts or user identification
  • We cannot identify who wrote any reflection
  • You cannot prove you wrote a reflection
  • Reflections cannot be edited or deleted after submission

Understand what you're giving up: Once you submit a reflection, it becomes part of the anonymous collective. You cannot retrieve it, edit it, delete it, or prove you wrote it.

5. Your Reflections

By submitting a reflection, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to store, display, distribute, and create derivative works (such as summaries) from your reflection.

You represent that your reflections are your own original work and don't infringe anyone's rights.

6. Prohibited Content

We believe in freedom of expression. We have exactly four rules:

  • No illegal content — Child exploitation, terrorism promotion, content that breaks the law
  • No direct threats — Credible threats of violence against identifiable individuals
  • No doxxing — Revealing others' private information (addresses, phone numbers, etc.)
  • No targeted harassment — Sustained attacks designed to harm specific private individuals

Everything else is allowed. We don't prohibit opinions about public figures, political views, negativity, or content that's "off-topic."

7. Content Moderation

AI screens reflections for our four prohibited categories. Content that violates these rules may be blocked. Due to our anonymous architecture, we cannot warn or ban specific users, and there is no appeals process for individual content decisions.

8. Mental Health Disclaimer

Sanctuary is NOT a mental health service.

  • We are not therapists, counselors, or mental health professionals
  • We cannot provide crisis intervention
  • We cannot monitor for emergencies
  • AI detection of crisis content is imperfect

If you're in crisis, please contact a crisis line in your region.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations. AI analysis may be imperfect.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the greater of $100 or amounts you paid us in the past 12 months (which is $0, since we're free).

11. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than court, except for small claims court matters. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first using the Service by emailing admin@sookoon.space.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Significant changes will be announced in the app.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice. Due to anonymity, we cannot terminate specific users — only block specific content.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
